Dudley Vantage cistern replace flush valve

I have a Thomas Dudley vantage concealed cistern. Twice had to replace washer on the Niagra valve and now a slow overflow into the pan again.

Do I have to replace with the same flush valve or can I put in a fluidmaster, have used those before and seem good?

Hi,

It might be the valve bayonet style cradle, or inlet valve not shutting off.
