"Hi everyone, I need some advice on a mistake I made while digging a base for a 6x4 ft plastic shed. My original plan was to dig down 90mm total, but while trying to get it flat, I accidentally over-dug it to 200mm depth. The area is 7x5ft. I already have 11 large bags (25kg each) of Tarmac MOT Type 1 sub-base and I'm hiring an industrial petrol wacker plate.
I cannot afford to buy more aggregate right now.

Can I safely put the dug-out soil back into the bottom of the hole
in thin layers and use the industrial wacker plate to compact it back down before adding my 11 bags of sub-base, or will this cause the paving stones and shed to sink later? Thanks for the advice

AI says don’t because it will sink eventually even with a whacker plate what I’ll hire. Dunno what to do

With that hand tamp you don't really need a wacker, just a bit of sweat.

Type 1 will compact better if damped down

I have a hand tamper and they can be a real pain to use on soil espicually when adding, because layer you just put down sticks the the base and instead tamping down you just end up with a load of dents.

Let's rewind to the start, plastic shed!
You don't really need to do anything. If you can stand on it without making an impression into it, you'll be areet!
