We've got most of the house to decorate, once the plasterers finished (and it's dried out!)

I've used Gliddens Contract Matt to mist the 2 rooms that are finished, we're looking for something better than the Homebase we used in our last place.

We've found a Dulux colour we can get mixed, but trying to decide which to go for. Dulux Dec. Centre is nearby, nice folk and willing to do a bit of a deal, so I'm leaning towards them.

We'd like to go as Matt as possible, but add a little more resistance to it - Dulux list Flat Matt as wipeable, is this true? I'm assuming that Diamond Matt is probably not even as Matt a finish as Vinyl Matt?

    Any thoughts?

Simon, the dulux diamond matt is the toughest finish for walls, but the flat matt will give you that intense deep colour so go with that if like it, but, you may find that after 6 months or so, some marks may not come off with a wipe so you will have to judge how much the walls will have to take.
Just inside the front door area is one such place that can take a bit of a battering!!

    thanks,

it wasn't so much deep colour, but the flat/very matt effect. we've gone with flat matt for the bedroom, which I finished today - looking great, very happy.

we'll have a play on a finished bit (before we fit the rad) to test it for toughness/wearability. I'm erring towards the diamond matt for hall/stairs/landing

Have a look at little green intellimatt, stupid name but very nice paint and a wipeable flat finish.
Johnstones flat matts are nice too although not sure on the toughness. The Dulux diamond IMO hardly resembles a matt let alone a flat matt. Their heritage range of colours is nice and of course Farrow & Ball is very good too.
Paint and paper library is very nice paint for flat finishes as well.
