The Mrs has got her painting head on so I need to make the most of it. Our house was painted professionally some 12 years ago and the chap used Dulux trade satin wood on all the doors and some skirting (upstairs)

Now she wan't the downstairs skirting painted which is 12 years old pine so has darkened over that period.

II have read about the potential yellowing and oil v water based paints which has left me confuzzed, so which paint would be recommended for her to complete the task as she has somewhere 30m+ of skirting to do and some doors along the way

IMO the best satin finish is sikkens BL satura, the BL signifies water based. The BL primer undercoat is also excellent and its a bit easier to avoid second coat misses if you do one or two u/c's followed by one satin top coat. If the pine skirting has a clear finish such as varnish or stain you ideally need to put a good adhering primer sealer on first, zinsser 123 is water based.

Cheaper and also a good WB paint is the johnstones satin and their aqua undercoat is also very good.

Good prep is required over existing oil based paint, take the shine off to avoid adhesion problems

skirting is untreated pine but doors have been Duluxed as mentioned.

Where do you normally buy from. We have a Brewers in the town where I have bought stuff in the past...?
