Recently used Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt in lounge and was very pleased with it.
Now looking to paint hallway walls and although I see the advantages of Durable and Scuffshield, I wanted to know if there were any disadvantages on application vs Vinyl Matt?

The walls were textured as shown in picture. We have since sanded the walls down and we had some black matt paint, so did a test patch of wall and the swirls don't seem to show through.
Also, we are planning using MDF wall panelling kit. My son used a Dulux Heritage Velvet Matt on his MDF panels without issue (no primer). Would either of the Vinyl, Durable, or Scuffshield have better results on MDF?

They ( contractors) emulsion MDF at work however I use gardz to seal. I often used eggshell on MDF though doing what I do.

Depends if you want a durable finish that is less likely to mark or just a standard matt paint.

Stairs normally gets marked easily with matt paint in some busy houses

Walls are usually a soft sheen or a johnstones "tough paint " which is basically a Matt you can wipe .....to a degree .....which is my opinion of all Durable, tough , wipeable , washable etc Matt paints

Durable emulsions have the pigment in the resin. Smooth. Don't mark so easy. Tough surface.

Standard matts are not durable.
We used crown breathless matt which was a sand colour. Rub surface with your fingers and the surface would turn yellow. Pigment was being crushed.

Do you think that paints sold as tough or durable or wipeable are all different ?

My view is they are all very similar if not the same depending on the brand

One brands tough is another brands wipeable etc

I think they are more useful against traffic and damage and fluids and wiping than standard wall matt paints ......but soft sheen or kitchen or bathroom mid sheen paints are better ...its an area in my view that the industry hasn't really got on top of

So I think we can apply such paints and they will be more durable than standard Matt but a soft or mid sheen is better

But then many people don't like the almost eggshell finish of soft sheen

Johnstones Aqua would possibly be a choice but colours are a bit limited last time I checked
