Hi

I'm in the process of attaching new light switches and (so far) none of the cables have an earth wire (red and black only). I know the answer would be to get the wiring replaced but am currently a bit strapped and wouldn't be able to pay a professional to do it for a while. What i'm trying to find out is whether there is a way i can insulate the switch to make sure it is 'safe' to use until i can get the wiring replaced?

If the switches are metallic then they should NOT be fitted unless there is a satisfactory cpc present. The back boxes should also have insulated lugs for the plate screws!

it doesn't have a cpc then. no metal switches then...

correctamundo (well no class I switches to be techincally correct* ;) )

*A metal switchplate will be class I though, and if anyone can show me one that isn't then I'll eat my hat
