Earth Bonding

It's been a while since anyone has mentioned this in the plumbing section, partly due to RCD protected circuits I suppose. But just browsing a post about someone teeing into an existing copper CH circuit using plastic brought back vague recollections of maintaining continuous earth bonding.

So what's the current (no pun intended) position on this?
