Would i be correct in saying this when a current is taken to earth other than by the CPC?

Earth fault current could flow in a circuit protective conductor, or through a main equipotential bonding conductor and more than likely through the main earthing conductor!
Or through a damp wall to ground,
or through the body of a rodent that has chewed through the conductors in a cable.

Or (hopefully not) through a person
