My Robin loop tester (an older model) trips RCDs when testing. Opinion seems divided on whether bridging the RCD to get a reading is acceptable practice. What does anyone think?

What's the best way to bridge? A patch lead across the incoming/outgoing terminals, or is another approach better?

I can't afford a non-tripping tester.

So how on earth (excuse the cheap pun) do you test these RCD's?

You really should have an RCD soft test function.

my tester trips RCDs aswell. just link out the RCD, or if its an RCBO, move the live out to a non-RCD MCB
