Hello,
I have just replaced an old batchroom pull switched that had been installed about 10
years ago with a LAP Brushed steel pull switch ( https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-6a-2-way-pull-cord-switch-brushed-steel/371cc ).

On removing the old switch, the electrician had covered the earth wire in green/yellow sleeving but had not connected the earth wire to the terminal in the plastic body. Is this terminal actually for the earth wire and should I connect the earch wire to the terminal in the plastic body of the new switch?

Also, these 2 x small metal "thingies" came in a plastic bag inside the switch - can anyone tell me what they are used for ?

Thanks in advance , John.

It is for the earth wire - just somewhere to put it; it doesn't do anything.

I don't know; someone else might.
Are there no instructions with the switch?
