Earthing a light switch

Just moved into a new house and the lighting has no earth wire as i want to use chrome switches is there an easy way to earth them or will i have to rewire back to the fuse box

Are you sure the earth hasn't just been snipped off at the switches? If indeed there is no earth at all throughout the circuit, then you will need an electrician to add one...
 
if you find one snipped off earth then you should test the entegrity of any earth in the circuit (easiest way is to get an extension lead on another circuit and use your multimeter on continuity to the earth hole on the extension lead) before relying on it. if someones snipped one earth wire they may well have snipped others further back.

if there is no earth at all its time to rewire the lighting circuit. If there is an earth but its cut back in lots of places you may be able to salvage some cable runs but you'll still have a lot of work to do and probablly need quite a bit of new cable.
