Firstly i'd just like to say this forum is fantastic. Picked up loads of very useful info from other posts. Well done all of you.
Our old terraced house was apparently updated by 'Bodger' about 20 years ago. I have just uncovered a copper water pipe which i disconnected last year to the outside loo, remember the bad frost!! I isolated under the sink and decided to sack off the rear toilet, which is just a dodgy link to an old outside loo. Damp and cold, not nice at all. Makes a good store though.
We are replacing the kitchen window and within the reveal behind boarding is the pipe, this also has an earth connection to it at the top of the pipe before it goes meandering through the cavity into the rear WC space.
I''ve cut the pipe out and disconnected the earthing connection. Should i extend this to connect to the nearest cold water pipe or do i have to run a new feed?
If i should just extend it what would i use to connect the new length of earthing to the old, are there rules for connecting blocks for this.
I've never quite fully understood earthing bathrooms and kitchens, i've come across connections to s/s kitchen sinks, bath legs, copper tanks etc, in our previous houses but just left them be.
