Does anyone know the name for a fine coat product available for filling/skimming small areas, have seen plaster patchers use it, it is really easy to sand when dry, the name aimmes or similar springs to mind but is probably wrong!!! comes ready mixed in largish tubs and really stinks when its old and gone off in tub!!!

no idea what that particular stuff is, i use easifill which comes in bags (powder) mix it up yourself and apply it, if you're in a rush you can get easifill45 which dries in erm...45 mins, is sands really easily too.

Ready mix, easy sand joint finish,, such as Gyproc Pro Mix Lite joint finish. Great stuff to work with. Comes in 17 ltr tubs.

Hi TM,,, ;) yes, it's good stuff, but unlike easyfill, it's comes ready mixed. It'll be around £20 odd for a 17 litre tub, but it goes a long way. This time of year, as long as you keep the lid on, and out of the cold/frost, it will last for long enough. It's similar to the usual ready mix, but they give it new fancy name, and make it easy sand. Great for lightly skimming over areas of wall where the paint has gone, but normally used for taping.

Gyproc easi fill lists as a joint filler, will this be ok to apply in a thin skim over a entire wall thats full of gauges after stripping wallpaper ?

Sounds like a lot of farting about if it's the whole wall let alone the dust & the time it will take you; much easier to skim it.

Absolutely Rich',,, if you pva and skim the wall,,it's all over in one go,,, no sanding at all.

You could skim a whole wall, no problem with "Easi Fil" Mikrik, but remember, it will set after 90 minutes or so. If you're going down that route, i'd use ready mix,,, put a "thin, thin" coat of r/mix over the entire wall, (no pva required),, let it dry out,(overnight) then put on another "thin, thin"coat of r/mix,, let it dry out again, then put your mask on, and sand away gently,,, cough, cough.

All done now thanks for your input folks.Whole room done in a couple of hours, brilliant stuff and no sanding to do  loads easier than reskimming.
