Eaves facia cut to accommodate brickwork

Is cutting into the eaves soffit to accommodate block acceptable? Not going to cause any issues?

It's would perhaps have been nicer to sit on top of the last course.

Looks like not enough depth to do that and that’s assuming the top course is any kind of flat. You’d still have a similar gap issue along it
