Its just that I find the Vaillant numbers/names very confusing.
The low numbers were usually older boilers and the later ones usually higher numbers like 637, 824/828, 937 etc.
It sounds as if this may be the ill fated one with horizontal finned bars HE and an upside down burner and a long flattenned flue tube on the left.
If so they did not usually last more than five years and I thought there were few left. I have an old one in our store!
Or it may be another one !

Tempting fate, this one has been performing fine for 9 years or so.vaillant names are indeed confusing, never understood why they call it ecomax and then some mysterious lot of letters and numbers to go with it
