NO it wouldnt register a code, normally they just need cleaning, for all the time it takes take it out and have a look, but make sure you turn the water off first

Is it the flow sensor or the water pressure sensor, (smaller of the two), I need to pull out?

its called an aqua sensor , you need circlip pliers to remove it but is a very easy job
