re my earlier post //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=67405

I have plugged in the new ECU and the car still doesn't want to start, so i am kind of lost what to do now about the car. As i've mentioned in my above post it could be because of water damage to that area and the wires may have shorted, my mechanic doesn't seem to want the job so my options are:

a) take to another machanic
b) take to autoelectrician
c) scrap it cos it ain't worth more than £500
d) other

I'd be glad to hear what you think i should do and if you pick d) please advise what you think.

Cheers.

its a 93/94 escort 1.8i petrol.

I may have to bite the bullet and take it to ford because the mechanic i spoke to really doesn't wanna know.

does it have red chipped keys , ie pats immobiliser?? if it does the engine ecu will need to be programmed to the pats ecu to allow it to start.

experiance says ford dont have a clue for none standard problems, autoelectricians are the fastest way to solve it. but as you say, its the balance of scrap of save.

already told him this davie in the previous post, he ignored me

You can buy another car for the price of having yours fixed, get rid, put the ECU on ebay, be on the road tomorrow
