Edit: Now replacing floorboards in bathroom floor

Just another quick one;

The area I need to replace is 105 cm's across and 78cm's down.

My joists are spaced approx 52cm's across and 39cm's down; Is it best to place one floorboard down i.e. the total length across or should you place one halfway across i.e. joist to joist so to speak.

Edit I've been to wickes and I'm thinking these http://www.wickes.co.uk/ptg-floorboards/invt/120832/ might be easier for me to lay down. Apart from a handsaw I haven't really got the tools too cut through long strips of wood. 121mm in width is this okay for my joists which are 520mm(l) 390mm(d) apart as long as the ends are nailed to the joists?
