Hello
I'm looking for a bit of guidance on some salt deposits I am getting inside my house towards the back end of the property. It's a room that is not used all that much at the moment and we have not had the house that long, but I am concerned that it might cause more problems if I ignore it...
The house is over 200 years old, listed and has a lot of character but with that comes problems and the salt deposits are on some of the internal open brickwork.
I have taken 2 pictures, the first inside so you can see what I am dealing with, the second is what's on the other side. The previous owners have painted the external bricks but only on this part of the house. Could this be contributing towards it?
Is it caused when the bricks cannot breath properly or something? Despite how it looks the walls are not at all damp to the touch, but the salt rubs off.
Thanks in advance
