Electric Boilers/Central Heating - help !!!!!

Hello,

I have a 2 up 2 down house and am hoping to fit a central heating system. I saw an electric boiler from B&Q which will fit the kitchen (6kw) and they are doing a special deal with 7 radiators and most of the bits to install.

I only want to run the radiators and installing a electric system would be easier than a gas system (bar getting a pro to certify the electric hook up when i have done the work)....

Is there anyone who could recommend an electric boiler or knows about the pros-cons of doing this versus using or installing a gas central heating system. Also are they more expensive to run versus gas etc...any help from the specialists and pros on here would be really appreicated...

They work ok but cost one hell of a lot to run. How much do you pay for your electric? about 14-16p/Kwh? This equates to around 90p/hr running costs on daytime/evening rate electric. If you're going to fit one of these buy shares in your electric supply company first

I suspected they may be a bit pricey to run... and at 90p per hour that sounds pretty high. What would gas cost for the equivalent ?, anyway It looks like a gas boiler is the answer... its a shame that most of the models I have seen (at B&Q) are the size of a small planet... does anyone know of an ultra slim and ultra small boiler that can run 6 radiators (35,ooo CTU+) ?

The Vaillants I fit are 720H x 440W x 320D. Although I have never fitted them the Broag boilers are smaller than this and appear to have a very good reputation.

The Avanta Plus open vent heat only boiler is 600H x 400W x 290D. I don't think you will get much smaller than this, especially with the reliabilty factor.

The Combi version is 670H x 400W x 300D.

If I didn't fit Vaillant I think I would fit these! In fact I might even look into this
