I have been asked to look at a mates golf troly [electric]
only runs on full speed it has 5m 10m 25m buttons hand control pot
pot checkes out 0-190homes ok
any ideas please :(

There are many ways to control DC motors thyristor control was at one time common and used three thyristors and one becoming faulty could result in the machine running flat out. However improved transistors have in the main replaced thyristor control.

It is a case of studying the circuit diagrams for that machine and working out how it works and what may have failed.

Do remember capacitors used to switch off the thyristor can hold their charge for a long time and we are looking at high currents.

I looked for "mates golf troly" and it does not seem to be a model that comes up on the internet so as to values of pots no idea. But always leave a space between a value and the unit. It should be 5 A not 5A or 10 ohms not 10ohms with the latter unless gap given easy to read as 100 ohms instead of 10 especially is there is also a typographical or spelling error as well.

should have put my mate asked me look at his electric golf catr
only runs on full speed the 5m=5mtrs.10m=10mtrs.25m=25mtrs.run on
thre buttons
the control pot is ok 0-190.ohm for normal opperation
dont know the make no badge or logo :(
is it p.c.b.control card ?

Looked up M8ts cart and seems that's a go-kart. It would seem that there are 100's of golfing trolleys with electric power.

If I was designing a trolley with multi speed not sure which system I would use. Since the user can pull the trolley one does not have to worry too much about the torque.

So come on give us a clue. From what is said it's does not use a rubber pneumatic device so what does it use?
