Gents.

I have spent some time looking at previous questions asked.
Mine is similar but again, it feels site specific and I'd just like clarification.

I have a 6mm T&E running from a 32A MCB (by a 100A RCD) in the c.u to the 45amp cooker switch, approximately 8-10m length. The intension with the new kitchen was always to have a separate hob and oven. With the appliances now purchased I just want to make sure my set-up is still sufficient.
Oven is rated 3.4kW and Hob is rated 7.6kW taking me up to 11kW = 45.8A. Posing the questions:
1 Will I get away with upgrading my MCB to a 45A and install a 45A dual appliance outlet plate for the two?
and
2 Will my 6mm cable handle this?

Please advise.
Regards Tony

It depends on the method of instalation for the cable, but after allowing for diversity you will probably be ok. Not possible to be 100% sure without inspection.

Thanx for the quick respons jj.

You say 'depends on method of installation for the cable'. Could you please explain?
As far as I'm concerned it is a straight run from the c.u to the kitchen, the 6mm is tie wrapped together with 2x 2.5mm for the dedicated kitchen ringmain. The 6mm then ends up in the 45A switch adjesent to the first dubble socket on the ring (work top hight).
What other factors will come in to the equation?

Regards
Tony

How much of it is plastered into the wall, whether it is covered by insulation, whether it is bundled with other cables etc etc, which is why you could do with an inspection if you want to be 100%
