my upstairs lights will not work when i put an electrical screwdriver on the wires they ar all live can anyone help

Try changing the bulb!

If there's power on to the fittings then it's not the fuse at the CU, have you been doing any work on the wiring?

If your lighting worked perfectly and then you changed a switch and now the lighting is no longer working perfectly, then it is something you've connected up wrong. Pictures, please.

sounds like you may have connected the neutral in to the switch somewhere..

was there 2 black wires in the switch box?

did they both go to a terminal block or to one terminal on the switch ( may have been double pole.. doubtfull but may be..)

Do not rely on a neon screwdriver to test live cables. They will light up with only a few volts and if live it is only a resistor stopping the current from 240V being driven through you!!
