I stand corrected - in the interests of accuracy it's also worth noting that there are multiple strains of the Legionella family of bacteria (more than 30 from memory)

Indeed. I think you'll find that there are actually in excess of 50 species of Legionella, but I think that Legionella pneumophilia is the only one of serious concern to man.
