Electric shower issue!

I will try to clarify ,its had it ,its outlived its usefulness ,it should be despatched to a shower grave yard ,it has ceased to be. Its fecked.

Buy a new one and fit it yourself ,would be your best bet.

Actually, cutting off mains water won’t stop it coming out. Methinks I might need a plumber

Call shower doctor and ask them what they recommend

By the sound of it you have either a blocked hot filter or the hot is airlocked

That shower has filters on the cold and hot supplies inside the unit.
Obviously they must be clean.
The rest of shower is basically just a pump with a motor as part of one unit.
There is also a pair of brushes on the top of the motor, just like you get in an ordinary electric drill etc.
Sooty looking black carbon will be inside the shower, but that is normal brush dust.
Be careful to isolate electrics fully as that is a 240 volt fed shower.

Mira I believe will only sell complete motor & pump unit, but Showerdoc will sell you the inexpensive motor brushes.
I have repaired a few.
If nothing simple, then buy new model and replace.

My dad is a former electrician and he is convinced it could be due to limescale clogging up the head.

it doesn’t seem like it to me. Does anyone think this could be the issue? He thinks that if the flow is too low the thermostat will stop the flow

Simple way to find out, but think you may have been told the answer. Remove the shower head from hose and run, if it’s still the same, then it’s not limescale.

Some power showers use a thermostatic cartridge, similar to what is in a thermostatic shower valve.

if you think the head is scaled, unscrew it and put it in a plastic container of kettle descaler overnight.

brush it clean next morning.
