Can anyone help?

I have a Gainsborough energy 2000x electric shower which is not heating up at all.

Complete novice with these things, however there is a 'reduce temp' light on the front which is permanently lit, does this suggest that the thermal cutout is not functioning? Can this be replaced?

My simplistic thinking is that if the element had failed then that light would not be on.

Assistance would be welcomed before I splash out on a new one.

Cheers.

How old is the shower ? If the element had gone open circuit the internal sensors might indicate element not energised therefore the reduce heat light stays on until the stat closes....just a guess.

Hi, the shower is about 7-8 years old.

I have been told that it could be a water pressure problem caused by limescale, intending to try and 'de-limescale' it at the weekend and see if that improves things.

Cheers.

If this is the model that I suspect then Heatrae (who took over gainsborough showers) do a model that's identical - it even goes onto the same mounting holes. :)

Why not treat yourself!

Take a look at the Sapphire 8.5kW - you might recognise it.

Spoke to Heatrae yesterday, guess what they suggested the Sapphire 8.5KW!!!

Thanks for the help, just need to find a stockist in Essex.
