Electric Shower water pressure

Triton Bermuda running off incoming mains supply.

Not had a problem until today. Switched on - cold water, low pressure indicator was all red. Water flow seemed slightly low. After about 5 minutes and with altering the flow/temp dial it eventually started to warm up and the low pressure indicator returned to normal. I think it may have switched off and on once or twice more but eventually levelled out.

I tried the kitchen sink tap and the pressure seemed ok, thought it might have been slightly low - probably just suggestion???!

Does this sound like a failing shower? Any way to test other than give it a few days to see if it makes its mind up? Anyone know a replacement with the same footprints or a possible replacement part or something that can be cleaned easily?

P.S. I took the shower head off and was still getting cold at that time and the holes were reasonably clear.

Has the water board been doing any repairs on your street lately? have you checked the inlet filter on the shower may have muck in it. failing that possibly just the heat exchanger and element fured up with limescale due to age of shower. Triton showers are renowened for it. You turn it off and it just shuts down. No purging of the heated water etc which contributes to limescale formation

I tried it at lunch time and everything is working perfectly now. The pressure indicator is back where it used to be. I suspect there might have been some water works somewhere. I did see a fire engine working on a hydrant on my way home - probably unrelated.

Is the inlet filter a diy job? (Do I just undo the connector between the inlet copper pipe and shower? power+water off of course ) We do have a fair bit of limescale although curiously since fitting one of these electronic descalers I hardly ever have to descale the shower-head any more.

The shower must be at least 5 years old and probably closer to 10 from what I have read.
