electric supply cable through extension

SW is not the OP so I doubt he knows.

Certainly a reminder to anyone thinking of building in a cable to atleast allow provision for the meter to be retrospecticly relocated and recabled to the consumer unit.

Pure curiosity, or have you built over/planning to build over your supply cable?

I'm thinking of having my meter moved outside to give more space in our hallway. I don't know whether an extension to our original house built many years ago is over the mains cable. If it is though, the relocation could still be done by severing the existing cable before it enters the external foundation wall, jointing and running a short length upwards into a new meter box mounted externally just above that point. However, I'm slightly worried at what view (or action if any) the DNO will take if I ask them to do a meter relocation and they discover that the builder has just built over the existing cable. Would they not be bothered since I'm asking for it to be relocated anyway ?

Probably not, as the final result will be an improvement & remove a potential fault from the system
