Does anyone have any experience of Electric Towel Rads compared with 'traditional' towel rads fitted with an element and filled with water.

Is one better or more efficient that the other?

Dunno, but one thought which occurs to me is that if the element fails on a sealed and self-contained electric unit you have to replace the entire thing, which would be costly, and (if the usual S*ds Law of not being able to find a new one the same as the old) could mess up the decor.

On a dual-fuel rail you just replace the element.

If your heating is on all year then fine. If not then use an electric one. They use about 40-50W upwards - so 11p a day if left on all day. Can stick a time on it if you wish. Can get new elements for electric ones. Take your pick.

Cheers.

This would be a stand alone seperate from the heating system.

Good point about replacing the element only should it fail.
