Summary:
Garage converted into a childrens playroom. Radiators in, Walls beaded / double glazing etc.. AT times we have to put the heating on just to heat up that room. Rest of the house is toasty warm.

current flooring: concrete floor (from orginal garage) with woodend suspended timber, chip board on top, laminate insulation and then laminate:

Going to get UFH to supplement the heating (and few hours in the morning and a few hours a night). At weekends most of the day.

Questions:
All the UFH i have seen mention about putting screed down, is this necessary , can you not put it on chipboard then laminate insulation, then laminate on top?

If i have to put on screed, what depth is ideal (possibly a how long is a piece of string question?)

Do i have to seal the chipboard flooring before putting the above on?
How much raising of the floor will it add with UFH & screeding?

At the moment, its nice and level going from one room to another. So conscious of raising the floor slightly /wife approval/ mess etc..

Also will be putting insulation under the suspended flooring. to help out as well.

Go to the Pergo website and look at their product and their specialised underfloor heating underlay system, it may considerably simplify things for you.
