Can't really help with software other than I've seen people mention MS Visio and the odd person resort to using MS Paint. AutoCad is another option I suppose.

Google Sketch is also used a fair bit once all the plugs & sockets ate are made as blocks.

MS paint can even be used.

You could search for diptrace or esketch etc.

I use Visio, which is so easy to use as a CAD virgin.

It has heaps of shapes and templates and will allow simple outline drawings to multi layer architecutual drawing that can be accepted by LABC planning departments.

Visio can be d/loaded from here http://www.golsoftware.com/software/pc/microsoft/microsoft_visio_2003_pro.html for $40

Smartdraw can be d/loaded free as a trail and there's numerous offers, just google the product name.

BTW, has anyone got any collections of sockets, switches, CU's RCD's et all already created for one of these packages that they would be willing to share?
