Hi,

Can anyone reccommend a good book to read on electricity / electrics with good diagrams and clear explanations of wiring systems for the average household plus some theory to cover ohms law etc etc
I'd like to learn how to wire a light fitting and install a socket where this is permitted.

Regards,

Readers Digest Wiring & Lighting Manual cost about £10 and has clear, colour pictures and diagrams with easy to follow text. I bought a copy last month. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...ils?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1209380136&sr=8-1&seller=

The On Site Guide goes into more detail and is considered to be an electricians bible , but no pretty pictures and it assumes that it will be used by a formally trained Pro. I picked up a nice copy off e-bay for £3 a few weeks ago...

For Electrical Fundamentals it depends on how much you want to pay, all of the infromation regarding Ohm's law, ec, etc is very readily available for free on the www.

When i was doing my Electrical/Electronics exams a few years ago i found this website useful however it is American and iirc some fo the transformer stuff uses different notation and they also assume Electron flow, rather than conventional current flow in their theory ( agin iirc - it has been a few years since i sat those exams :) )
