Because manufacturers instructions are sometimes (often even) wrong. This is just such an example. Here is another:

I wouldn't say recommending 10mm2 for the shower is actually 'wrong'.

It is good advice really when you consider loft insulation (which may not even been present at the time of install, but added later) and length of run.

I would recommend 10mm2 for most showers.

However, in practice I would try to avoid using it wherever possible as it's a pain to install :D.
