Certainly no electrical regulations of which I am aware, but I suppose some MIs might call for that.

my boiler is in an entirely different room to the FCU, FCU is in the airing cupboard.
Never had an issue with it being there, thats where the pump, zone valve, wiring centre and controller are so it's logical. It would be illogical to have it next to the boiler
