I am in the process of buying a 1960s semi and i've just had an electrician to look at the electric system. His advised that there was no earths used on anything in the house. He gave rough estimate to replace circuit board and do basic work to bring to a safe standard - £1400. but he strongly advised best action was to rewire completely at a cost of approx £4000. Does this advice look right and do you think I have a good case to get money knocked off purchase price?

I would again like to apologise for shouting and posting in wrong place, 1st and last time i will use your forum.

why are you shouting, (forum rule 7) and what has this question got to do with building?

don't be put off because off a posting error, and a mod will probably move your post for you. sorry I can't answer you question.

Yes & yes!

The wiring is clearly old, if it were me for piece of mind i'd go for a full rewire. It's becoming a buyers market so i'd certainly try and get £4k knocked off the price.

Oh don't worry about Breezer. It's not his forum, we just let him play here cos he's barred from his local.
