I have an Electrolux Dryer new last summer and I forgot to put the lint trap in and started it and a sock fell into the spot where the lint trap goes. I removed the sock but the dryer still will only go to pause and won't start up. I tried holding down two buttons and turning the knob clockwise one spot and that didn't do anything. Is there a reset button somewhere on the machine? Thanks in advance for any advice I have two loads of wash to dry!!

AHHH the Electrolux dryers.

B*stards they are, swallow socks like no tomorrow.

What colour sock was it?????

Ignore LMB, what a wag he is.

Are you sure there is only one sock that got trapped?

You removed one, but could there be another that has got stuck out of sight, preventing the machine from switching on?

That's the only thing I can think of.

The other thing you could try is to Google your machine brand and model number plus the fault and see if there is a fix on a forum somewhere.

EDIT:

I have found this:

Could it be possible that the dryer overheated?

The thermal fuse helps to prevent a dryer fire by shutting off power to the dryer if it overheats. If the dryer won't start check this fuse first. Test the thermal fuse with an ohm meter or continuity checker. This is the most common part to fail when the dryer won't start. Once the thermal fuse has blown, it has to be replaced. It can not be reset.

And I'll bet they're not a pair.

That's probably where all my odd socks have got to.

I'll be writing that down in my little book of repairs.

Don't forget to make a note about the colour of the sock. Are you suggesting the colour may affect the level of damage?

How does it work? The darker the sock, the greater the damage?

I can imagine the conversation now...

"Hello is that XYZ Insurance Co?"

"Yes"

"I'd like to make a claim for my damaged tumble dryer"

"Certainly. Do you know the problem?"

"Yes, two socks have got stuck inside it"

"You don't happen to know what colour they are?"

"Colour? Yes, they were both black"

[Insurance person hits the mute button and mutters to colleague]

"****....bad month....another written off tumble dryer....."
