We currently have a potterton programmer but it only has two on off settings per day and i was looking for a programmer with three on off settings was speaking to a spark earlier at the shop and he recommended a EPH T27 2 zone programmer, i never heard of this brand so are these a good choice or are there better ones on the market?

Which Potterton programmer do you have? Trouble is, if it's the EP series (2000, 2002, 6002, etc), it's not just a programmer. The box behind programmer is also a wiring centre, so fitting the EPH programmer will mean removing the box and re-wiring.

Easier to just buy a new Potterton EP2. You keep the old EP's back box and wiring, and the EP2 fits diectly onto this. No re-wiring and the new programmer has the 3 on/off programmes that you need.

Yes, it's a direct replacement for the 3002. Will fit straight on to the old back box.

Even though my old programmer is about 18 years old it will just be a matter of removing the front part of the unit and fitting the new unit, job done, it seems a bit too cheap as i think when i bought the old unit it cost close to £100. are you familiar with this particular unit?

I have only fitted one in place of an EP6002. Still OK, as far as I know. Don't know why it would be too cheap. Perhaps a lot more competition in the ch controls market these days. If you're saying your old Potty lasted 18 years, can't see a problem with another.

The alternative is a completely unknown model that you suggested, installing another wiring centre and a partial re-wire of your system. If you doubt compatibility between your old Potterton and new one, ring their tech support dept.

I will stick to the potterton range as ease of switch over which i can do myself as i dont want to be "installing another wiring centre and a partial re-wire of your system"
Thanks for your help, will buy one tomorrow and report back
