My daughter has bought a new flat and the radiators are painted the same colour as the walls - matt finish so I assumed it was the same paint as used on the walls.

A wet cloth will shift it off the plaster (it does where I have sunk cables in the wall) but where I have tried water on a radiator but it does not move.

An suggestions on cleaning the radiators back to the original gloss white?

If its water based emulsion, then I dont think it will wash off once cured.
The only way now will be to use emery clothe or wet/dry paper. Then you will have to prime & paint the rads again, & if you put paint onto this paint you will loose efficiency from the rad.

It could be oil based eggshell on the rads too..you could try really hot water and a scouring pad

Hi

I have some coloured BandQ satin on the radiator and it looks matt and very like emulsion. If it is a decent paint job they might have used satin for the radiator?

TBH I wouldn`t bother...the rads may be of an age that they were only primed when fitted  ....the lovely shiny white ones with grilles etc are relatively young .......painting a rad with white gloss is so-so because the heat discolours it ....a matching eggshell to the walls is better in the long run

I agree, then the rad blends in with the wall. :D
