I have a ceiling light fitting. Max 60W.
I have a low energy bulb  . 20W use. 100W output.
Can I use it (as it is 20W) or can I not (as it is 100W)?

The 'Max 60W' rating of your luminaire is because of the heat output of the standard general service lamp it was designed for. Your energy saver lamp is a compact fluorescent and is much more efficient, producing a higher ratio of light to heat. The 100W figure is simply for comparison, saying that this will produce an equivalent light output to a standard 100W lamp whilst actually only needing 20W of power input.

So the answer to your question is yes, you can use it.

Thought that might be the case but good to have it verified. Many thanks.
