Engine oil change interval on Ford wet belt

I think 30k is now the recommendation interview to change the belt, never mind the oil!

I think some places can have a reasonable attempt at inspecting the belt so it might be worth incorporating that into your maintenance regime.

Oil to the exact manufacturers specification is the key to this, not some random similar specification stuff found in a motor factors. I have had 4 Ford cars with these wet belt engines so far and haven't had any problems running the same belt for more than 70k miles. These vehicles have been serviced annually at about 12000 mile intervals.

Chatting to my Ford dealer at the weekend he said that the ones that he has seen which have failed have all been home serviced or not serviced at all, including one recently that had done 60,000 miles on the original oil before the belt failed.

He is running several loan cars which have done over 100,000 miles on the original wet belts.

Since starting this thread, I've established that the Corsa (Vauxhall F12XEL engine) we have also has a wet belt.

The Fiesta '69 reg uses 5w20 oil and the Corsa '23 reg uses 5w30.

I did the Fiesta oil change yesterday and it looked clean.
