Hi,

We're laying engineeered wood flooring on top of chipboard and I have a couple of questions I can't find answers to so if anyone can help me out I'd be really grateful:

1. The room has underfloor heating in half of it (the UFH is laid between joists under the chipboard). Is it ok to run the engineered wood flooring continuously across the room, or do we need an expansion gap between the area with underfloor heating, and the area without? I suspect a gap is needed, but hope it is not.

2. Is it essential to use underlay? The sub-floor is level chipboard throughout.

Mark

Thanks in advance.
