When people say traditional dishes, how far back do we have to go?

1950s means virtually no chicken or pork dishes, so beef, mutton and bacon. Much more expensive.

In the 1920s food would be laced with Radium as a heath tonic and we only just started pasteuring milk.

In the 1800s we ate half as much meat as we do now per person. Do we need to go more veggie?
