Hi
I've just moved into a flat where my bedroom is in the attic (it's a converted house with only 2 flats - we're on the top floor). The room has an ensuite but the shpwer doesn't work properly. It's a Triton T80si. The pressure is pretty low but it gets much worse when someone else is using the downstairs shower - when this happens it also doesn't dispense any hot water.
The downstairs shower runs off the gas boiler, so I don't understand why this affects my electric shower - surely the whole point of an electric shower is that it runs off a different pipe and can therefore be used at the same time as the other shower? I'm really ignorant about these things so it would be great if someone could explain it to me!

My landlord is totally useless and I was thinking of paying to get it fixed myself, but I can only do this if it doesn't involve major plumbing work.

Grateful for any advice!

sounds like you have a pressure problem.
when the other shower is running off the boiler its taking the pressure from your shower and not getting hot cause you need the pressure to activate the microswitch for the heating element

Hi there,

It would still be affected as the mains supply runs to the boiler to supply it with water for your hot and then carries on upto your electric shower.

You need to get your landlord to check the mains flow / pressure as it sounds pretty low to me.

Thanks to you both for replying!

The landlord reckons it's something to do with the shower unit.....

There's a pump in the corner of the ensuite that appears to be switched down to minimum - do you think that could be it? I'm a bit scared to touch it!

Cheers

Triton T80si. is a tank fed shower designed for places with low mains pressure, if your in the atic, then the distance between your shower rose and the tank feeding it will be short, if not below what is recomended, you may be able to get in the roof space and raise the tank, if not get a smaller tank not sure what tank size triton recomend, and raise it .

Styled on the best selling T80si; the Triton T80si Pumped is a tank-fed integral pumped electric shower designed for installations where the pressure of the mains water supply is too low, unreliable or non-existent.

This remarkable problem-solving shower is fed from your cold water tank which can be as little as 8cm above the unit.

someone has bunged a pump on a mains fed t80si.
which has low pressure from the mains.
