escort van, dodgy imobiliser?

twice now my van has failed to start when turning the key..

the incidents were a few weeks apart, the most recent on friday..

the lights all come on, the batteries good, but when i turned the key, nothing.

no solenoid, no starter motor etc...

after about 20 or 30 turns of the key it then starts and runs fine...

i'm hazarding a guess that it's something to do with the immobiliser as there is a little red bit in the key that works the immobiliser..

anyone know why it's happening?

Is there an LED somewhere i.e. in the clock which operates with the immobiliser?
IIRC if the immoboliser is behaving properly when when you insert the key and turn it the LED will light for a few seconds and go out.
