Ethernet cable for internet: over roof?

If it's a work thing then get them to supply the dedicated connection... at their cost and get them to work out any wayleaves needed to get the connection at the back of your home, where you want it.

When I worked we got ADSL lines installed for home working and those connected into secure stuff at our premises and the PCs / connections were work only (and internet stuff via the works firewalls and logged) i.e. fully private networks. That was 20-25 years ago mind.

Nowadays everything is done via VPNs... and people use domestic lines for critical business use! :rotfl:

Business lines with proper SLAs are much more expensive and if that is what you need get your Company pay for it and get their experts in to sort out the details of routing etc.,.

This ain't rocket science - just something that's outwith your knowledge, experience and skillset. Pay a person who can to sort it!

Running of any cables over a roof is just bad practice.
I had an experience a while back where the outer sheath of coax cable had rubbed through on a roof, water got in and eventually tracked its way to the lowest point.....my video recorder-that's how long ago it was!, but the water managed to convince the recorder to identify as a toaster for all it was worth after that.
