Took some pupils on an educational trip to Paris. On the back of this, we spent a day at Euro Disney. Was pretty unimpressed with the whole thing although the parade made it worthwhile.

On the way in there was a cursory bag search. The impression I had was that if I'd have tried to enter with bombs, guns, knives or crossbows then that would have been fine; but had I tried to sneak a sandwich or a bottle of coke in then security would have been all over me in a rash. What a rip off the place is.

So what are your views?

Go to Chester zoo instead... it's really good, and they have indoor places you can take your own food !!

I went to Chester Zoo in 1963. With the junior school. I thought it was great feeding the rhino on malted milk biscuits.

It was during our half term holiday. As with all things, expenses were paid for by the customers whom we served.

I went to EuroDisney some years ago. Have to agree about it being a rip -off. The rides are good, although the queues are long. They should have adult only days so us oldies could enjoy the place without the screaming kids.

Get yourselves over to Florida,better weather, bigger queues and even bigger people.

Weighed it up and overall for 7 people Disney Florida was better value and the price difference not that much.

TBH cannot see an American based theme park working anywhere but America.

First off, I'd just like to state, I've been to Euro Disney and Disney World Florida, there is no comparison. The biggest issue are the staff. In Florida they employ staff (not just Americans I might add), who deliver the Disney experience. The Americans wrote the Customer Service Bible. The French are a different breed. I have a French Brother-in-law. He's a nice lad from the south of France but lives and works in Paris. Like the North/South divide we have here, the French hate the Parisians for their attitude toward other French people and their aloof attitude in general. It just isn't done the 'American way'. It doesn't work the way it does in America.

Ah 'sandwich smuggling'! Was this just your 'impression' or is there an actual block on taking your own food in? There wasn't last time I was there but to be fair, that was about 3 years ago. However, I agree with your appraisal of the pricing. These places charge a lot of money for food and drink inside the park. That they may be blocking customers from taking their own food in seems penny pinching to me. The irony is that many French people wouldn't eat the crap they serve in there anyway! When we went (with the French side of the family), they packed a picnic of aperitif, bread, cheese, olives, meats, yoghurt and wine. There were actually many families there with picnics but the Food Courts were still packed.

Is there a form of mathematics that the Parisians have that we don't?

We don't have the Eiffel Tower to time how long to come down from, how many people in the lift, estimated weight of lift, projected income for the tower for the day. Estimate height of the Arc de Triomphe. Specialist mathematics display area in a Science Museum. Apart from that, there was and is plenty of mathematics to be gleaned from many different aspects of the trip. History of France, French architecture....

On the back of this, we spent a day at Euro Disney.

What was the educational part of that part of the trip?

Queue theory, ride times, calorific intake, estimate amount of burgers bought daily, application of euro/sterling exchange rate, heights of rides, track lengths etc etc etc.
