Hi, was posibly looking at a 7kw EV charger point & wondered what the voltage was at the plug that go's into the car as it just so happens my solar battery bank is in the same area & if the car didnt need a charge, i could charge the battery bank. This needs 2.5kw 230v. I relize the input is 230v but wasnt sure on the EV chargers output. Thanks.

It is only a switching and monitoring device, little more than a socket, so no voltage change, the V2G EV charging point is designed for two way transfer, so the vehicles battery can be used by the home. So there is no reason why any device should not be plugged in. The main point be it Solar battery or EV battery is the supply to it is monitored in some way, be it to allow two way transfer so bi-directional RCBO is fitted, or loss of PEN detection, or CT coils so whole house can't draw more than the supply fuse, and it varies outlet to outlet.

I'm sure the EV needs to do some sort of handshake with the charger to bring in the contactor though, so it might not be that straightforward

Yeah, to get power from an EV charger you will need something that can simulate an EV. You can buy them from test equipment vendors but they are kinda pricy. From a quick search it seems the circuitry needed to build your own is not terriblly complex.

This might explain the multy core plugs. But i suspect the extra pins are to spead the 7kw load & more across a few pins a they would get very hot on a single pin. But might be wrong.
