Hi Gents,
more great answers and more confusion for me. I've never ever noticed the arrow on the pipe. Not even when I took the photo, must like many of the boys on this forum be going blind for one reason or another.

So just so I am sure, either pipe on either side is fine of the new radiator. However better if the plumber fits them as is.

I've now looked at many valves and there seem to be hundreds, the radiator is quite nice looking and I've been looking at some chrome plated valves from a company called "Hudson Reed" any comments? The heat output of the towel radiators is so low I'm not sure a TRV is required, if it is, any good recommendations that don't look really ugly and cost an arm and a leg. I know what I will get if I let the plumber pick them  The technical jargon with them is great BTW, how many ways in English say "valve"

Regards once more.

As ever, your....

Maria.

Much appreciated Kevplumb, I had a quick look last night, but too tired :( I will have a proper look today. I've a big problem though, the supplier of my radiator (a local shop) emailed me to say that my model is no longer available. I chose another, but now they are asking me about a "summer heating element", I understand what this is, but I don't understand where it goes in the radiator, as far as I can see the radiator has two pipes one for feed and one for return. Where does this heating element go? Are there differences in them (other than the watts?) they want £89 for one with the radiator but Screwfix have them for £27 or less. Seems to me like someone is making too much prophet.

Regards

Maria.

Called a multifuel towell rail and has an electric element in the bottom colume.

Requires an electrician to wire it up

With regards TRVs for your towel rail can I recommend these or more specifically these I've fitted some and think they look smart. Although that pic doesnt do the valves justice you can see straight away that they are less obtrusive than regular TRV's

I know a guy that has a few of those multifuel towel rails in his bathrooms and he doesnt rate them at all. Having seen and worked on these my opinion is that they are just another gimmick designed to pry money out of your pockets for something that is expensive to run and of little use!

Any chance I could have your old valve(s) for spares? Will pay P&P and some beer (sangria?) money.
