Hi folks, I've just bought a 2nd hand exercise bike which has a number of programs, the connection on the bike says 6v 500 thingies, the transformer I was supplied with the apparatus is 16v and 800 thingamajigs, before I swing my leg over should I source a 6v transformer? Will the 16v cause damage to the computer data?
Many thanks for your input on this, no pun intended..

yes you should

maybe it will cause damage, maybe it will just shorten the life of the components. You are giving it nearly three times the specified voltage.

Also check the polarity required (if DC) on the connector.
