We have a late Victorian 3 storey 4 bed terrace which has the original doors throughout apart from an FD30 to the top floor bedroom & the ground floor kitchen.
We are going to add a dormer window replacing the existing Velux in the top bedroom & being in a conservation area had to obtain full planning permission.
In our building control plans it indicates that all of the existing doorways opening onto the stairwell should be 'FD30'.
I do not want to lose these lovely period features, what do other people do?
Prior to us purchasing the house this year the rooms were all let out to students, fully inspected ith no problems

No the loft room is already a bedroom, has been for many years, proper floor etc but done before current regulations.
In our re-jig we will keep a fire door at the top of the stairs to the loft with the required small landing but I do not intend to alter any existing doors
I couldn't afford it anyway, money is tight enough.
